  • A morning of first

This morning was the first time I have fished Surfside. Went in at Beach Access 5 and hung a left. Drove for a bit and parked, it was dark and I couldn't really tell what the water looked like. It was about 5:30.

As it started to lighten up I caught my first topwater trout. Keeper.

As soon as the sun came up I switched over to live shrimp, had quite a bit of fun with the little trout. Got tired of feeding the fish so I moved over to a golden spoon, caught my first golden spoon fed trout.

Fished a bit longer, got bored with the spoon and threw on a Saltwater Assassin Shad, Pumpkin Seed/Chartreuse. Caught my first trout on a plastic.

Great morning. Took home five, lost a couple more good ones too.

I got in last night around midnight and shut my eyes around 3. Going to get a little sleep and see what I can get into this afternoon.

Nice job on all the firsts. You might be the first guy I know that fished so many different genre's of bait. How were surf conditions and size of keeper trout?
I never saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself. A small baby bird will fall frozen, dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself...

Surf was great, I'm not a surf pro though. 15-17 were the keepers. Lost a couple that I swore were bigger, but I bet you guys hear that alot.

Nice. Next time go without the skrimps and keep the topwater on a little longer.
