Flounder Boat Lights

I'll be needing some lights for my flounder boat project. I want to stay with 12volt lighting. Any recommendations???

Automotive hi-beam 55wt halos work well. I'm at work so I will look up the part number for you later. 12v RV 100wt light bulbs work well in off color water but they are fragile.

What about LED lights? I've heard that they don't penetrate the water very well. Any truth to that??

You are not comparing apples to apples. I'd defer to Stephen on this question but my response would be:

"Strip LED" for the cheap one vs. "SPOT/ Flood LED" with a much better housing for the products PlashLights is offering.

That makes sense. The housing and reflector are obviously superior.

Do you know anyone using them on a flounder boat? That one looks like it is mounted too far back on the bow deck to point down at the water.

They are the best around, lowest amp draw for the lumins, and I have installed many and they just out perform andy others I have seen on the market.

Steves lights are the best Ive seen,3 of those will run all night for several nites on 1 jell cell!

This is my set up fairly easy to build for a crafty person that can weld aluminum bulbs are easy to find and last a long time

I forgot to mention the bulbs are 100 watt H-3 fog light bullbs. The fixture is 1/16 aluminum with bends at 45 degrees painted inside with high heat silver, lexan 1/4" plexiglass, 1" aluminum angle on the lense retainer I had some one break and bend the aluminum for me in San leon he charged me 80 bucks for that. They work good and are grounded through the rail system and the bulbs take a single wire to operate all 12 volt.
