  • Garmin panoptics transducer

I watched a episode of Americana outdoors that was was featuring this new product. It attaches to your bow mount trolling motor. Most transducers face down this one faces out and the angle of the view is adjustable and shows you what's in front of you. It's what a "fish finder" should be, I think it would be great for our shallow bays. Only problem is the price. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford it but, I now have a dream toy for my boat.
Wondering if anyone has one and if it's as cool as they made it out to be.

I'm normally in waist deep water or less. I hardly ever turn any electronics on unless I'm running in the fog. I'm no help.. Sorry.

I use structure and side scan by Lowrance. I have HDS 7. I use it mainly in deeper water in the winter to locate structure and fish. I use it religiously on any lakes.

I can't remember exactly how far out it can scan but it seemed like 20 foot or so in front of your boat even when your running up on plane, so I think it would work out pretty good in 4 feet of water. You can actually see your lure on the screen and watch the fish track and strike it in real time. I don't think I would have run up on the shallow reefs in Jones that night if I would have had one.

I'm not trying to promote the product, I usually don't get excited about these kinda expensive toys but wow it's really cool. One of these, an i-pilot and a power pole is on the list of gear when I get a new boat

How can you run on plane with it being mounted to your trolling motor?
