4-20 west end surf

well i started out at the water tower. lots of bait and pods blowin up 60 70 yards out. so i start with a bone ss jr. couldnt tell u wat it was but it bellyed up and nailed it. dam near got spooled. broke off. had it happen again on a black and chartreuse ss. so i tried some shrimp under a cork for a while nada. i went down to the bridge, got on the beach and went towards the water tower. big flock of 80 or 90 big birds pounding the second bar. so i jump in and start catchin gafftop. wound up bringin 10 home. birds moved down so i chased em. got in again and first cast...... my first trout of the year. 26 1/2. man thats one way to start the year.
everything was feeding. lost several bull reds and a big jack. they wore me out!!!! wasnt exactly what i wanted but it was better than a goose egg. had a blast

Nice haul... I've never kept a hardhead or gafftop before... How long do you let those gafftop's marinate before cooking??

I'm not big on keeping a Gaftop.... that Trout on the other hand is awesome. My best trout came from the surf. Nice job, when can hook up I'm ready for a some surf asction.
