  • new year's eve wade

my big plans to wade and drift the bay were modified due to the big time fog that rolled in overnight. my friend julie and i were supposed to meet up w/ ttuwader on the bay. alex and i touched base and julie and i decided to drive over to jamaica beach and join him since he was fishing solo and we wouldn't have to cross the bay in the fog. we hit a nearby cove around noon. julie strung a 16 inch flounder early on then we went fishless for about an hour. alex caught and released a 5lb, 24 inch trout towards the back of the cove. we all hooked up and strung a trout within minutes of each other and we thought the bite was on. unfortunatelly not so. julie strung a nice 20 inch trout later and alex released a smaller fish and we called it a day. 5 trout to 24, one released, and a flattie, all on corkies. the water was 49 degrees and virtually no wind. hopefully alex will post a pic of his trout, she was fat.

Nice going! Fog kept us from hunting yesterday morning, I wasn't going to drive the boat down the ICW in that thick stuff

We ran from maty harbor to live oak...normally a 20 minute run, it took us 1.5 hours at 8 mph. Not fun at 0530, and talk about a wet cold...whew we it was cold! Did hear some shooting going on though!
