  • I Too fished a couple hours today...

Fished around Laffite's cove today from 3PM to dark. SUPER WINDY but not in the cove. First hour, had some nice blow ups on spook jr ghost but no takers. switched over to penny gulp shrimp... POW, caught 10, all released, mostly 15-20inchers.

    But heres the real story....

The past two weeks I have seen the same damn fish in this area, and it is F'ing Huge. I am not sure what it is but 3 days ago I saw big bait breaking the water in a 10ft circle and then straight from the middle, it pulled a shamu type move. Went straight up a couple feet chasing the bait in midair. Pretty awesome site.
Today: There were 2 pelicans actually diving in the canals form 30ft. You know the sound it makes? like a shotgun BAM! Well, I was looking to the right and heard that sound, snapped my head to the left and saw one pelican 30ft without his buddy. The pelican never surfaced. I was pretty stunned and after a couple minutes I thought to myself, maybe it flew away before I could see it. Wrong... I saw the water still coming back to the surface from whatever it was that made the sound. An hour later, I realized it wasnt the pelican after the sound and sight of this behemoth. If you had your eyes closed, it would have sounded like the neighbors dog had fallen 4ft into the water, off the dock and, slashing around. I saw what was making the noise and I said out-loud to myself, with no one else around... what the #@#$# is that with my jaw falling to the floor.

Last week I saw the wake it made swimming around, it looked like the friggin loch ness monster out therewith its back breaking the surface.... If anyone catches this thing.... PLEASE POST A PIC

Its the local gar! Or a shark, we've pulled 5-6 bull sharks out of Laffites and Lake Como.

There are many gars that frequent those canals. I've seen many pushing 6 feet. They sometimes surface slap the water.

Mell Wader catches them in our canal... pretty cool to watch.

I have be seeing a 4-6' gar just hanging at my light in the canal-first I thought it was maybe trash (big shadow close to bottom), but then it moved and disappeared and came back-been hanging around on and off for two weeks now. As far as eating Pelicans, likely a shark.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. It was the famed "Chupagarbra" Don't try to get anywhere near it. It can swallow a dog or small child whole from the edge of the water. It kills for sport. Be afraid...Be very afraid! Seen below flying thru someone's back yard to attack.
