Thanks for the info!!! Judging by the landscapes there are definitely areas of similar features all around.. good way to learn!

I have a 19' Sea Pro that does not run skinny. I can make it out through there all winter. I use the boat ramp there in the canal and fish West Bay alot. It's only 8 miles from my house in Santa Fe. When you come out the mouth (in my boat) you head straight out and look too your right towards the ICW and you will see a pole. They call this pole Harvey's Pole. Turn straight towards the pole and run to the left and it will take you between the reefs.

As a kid, i always fished out of a 14' jon boat and never had any problems. I got the boat i have now and the first time out BAM! Dammit man....

I had to learn it all over again in this boat.

I noticed a few days ago that the light was missing off of Harvey's Pole. I guess Ike got it and I didn't even notice it last winter. Great post Zork on some good spots. I run into the Diversionary Canal all winter long with my 24' Kenner with no problems too.
Use to back in the day the power lines were a good winter spot, have not tried them since thee new bridge. Mirrolures near the edges were deadly for Trout. There was some good fishing up in the old Flamingo Canals too. I use to love going in there on a hard north wind and fishing those canals. just park the boat and walk down the banks working the edges. Have not tried it since Harborwalk took over.

This place looks similar to an area I was studying a year ago...Is this area just west down the shore from Bayo Vista?

Those were the good ole days...I caught my first 5# trout on plastics in there when i was a youngster I haven't tried it either since Harborwalk. I was PO'd when they started building in there. I left out one of the best winter spots.....Mirrorlures are the key

That is correct about Harvey's Pole. It used to say it on there but it has faded now. When You come out of the Diversion canal and get to harvey's Pole head straight to the red bouy on ICW and You will be right between the two reefs and be fine. 18' Blue Wave no problem.
