  • Perfect Conditions This Morning

I over slept and didn't start wading until after 7:00. It was dead calm and an out going tide. The water was almost clear and temp was 67 degrees.
Fish were going f***ing nuts chasing bait, which made the topwater bite kind of squirrelly.
After maybe 10 casts with nothing, I finally had a 4#er jump on the Jimmy Houston SS jr. It was a stop and start wait kind of bite. I ended up with 6 trout, lost a couple and caught a big azz 18" puffer fish on a Corky Devil I let sit on bottom while I was doing something else. It's funny the first fish and the last fish were almost bookends. No fish on the Corky for a change. I think I caught the last fish about 9:00-9:30.
Going again this afternoon. I hope the 10-12 mph SSE wind doesn't pick up much more.
I should have a photo later today. It's on my daughter's phone...

Nice job. I've only seen a puffer fish once before, and it was dead and washed ashore. Thanks for the report, and good luck later!

Nah, I've posted stringers on the cleaning table before. My daughter wanted the pic to put on facebook to show my friend Vern Lewis in S. Padre so he could see 'em.
