Launched with Uber at around 4ish to get some fishing in. We picked out a small area we were going to work and set up a drift. Water clarity was spotty with visibility around 6 inches and some places more than that. Our first drift, Uber was working a pumkinseed Ms. Trout Killer while I was working a rattle trap that originally had a black back. After about 10 casts, BAM. A rat red took off with my rattle trap. Let him go to get his mama.
We then reset our drift. Uber had a hit, set the hook and I put my rod down for net duty. Turned out a mullet got too close to Uber's MTK and got hooked. Laughing about it, I went back to my rod and two jigs later, I felt a slight hit, some weight which required a sharp hookset. Fish ON! Pulled some drag and came up as a little over 19 inch flounder with fat sides. I almost though Uber lost this one when he netted since I couldn't see it. (That would have made 3 flounders lost)
We didn't get anymore hits after we reset again, so we went out to explore some marshes. We fished a point and Uber had a small flounder hit and preformed an early release. We continued for a while but with no success. We went back to our first spot and set up a different drift. I switched my hackberry hustler in morning glory. Had a hit and pulled up a small trout which spit the hook at the boat. There is my slam for the day. Uber then switched to a TK in morning glory and hooked onto a nice 24 in red. We reset and he ended up with a keeper trout. Now we have a boxed slam and both of us have a hooked slam. Not bad for a few hours on the water.
