  • Corky Fatboys Foaaters to sinkers

Capt Bruce got my new Corky baits to me. The jointed Fatboys are floaters as designated by the red gills on the baits.

Paul included 5 of the new weights that have shown up in couple of posts.

The weights weigh about 14 grains or 1/32.

This might might be of use if you have a corky floater of some type and needed to make it into a sinker on a trip.

    Merry Christmas

Where do you attatch the weights? In the past I've just put finishing nails in them.

They're just a little piece of solder bent in a circle that you slip on one of the hook shanks.

Paul has come up with a new slitted donut weight.Just simply place the weight on needle nose pliers and squeeze the weight on above the o-ring on to the wire. This allows you to make your floater into a slow sinker. It is perfectly balanced to let your lure down easy right in front of that big...

Did not see the post on here but here is the px that Capt Bruce posted up.

Going over to a buddy's pool later today to try the weight on assorted 2000's, reg corky floater and assorted other things.

Wife is doing year end and took over my computer and hers and my desk too.

ID:	553733The pool will have a lot quicker drop than saltwater, but it'll give you an idea.
Here is a picture of my Christmas present to myself! Thanks Chip for the hookup!

Yes it was fresh water but it does give a rough idea on what the baits will do. New jointed fatboy looks great in the water. Tends to sink slowly so you can run it like a cordel jointed bait and let it sink. With the weight it sinks like a regular fatboy.

Tried the fb weight on a rapla subwalk 09 and and it made a sinker out of the bait that floats about 1 ft in fresh water.

For the suspending 2000, 2000 jr, and catch 5 they are supposed to be suspending baits down to 1 to 2 feet.
The ones I have were different is the sink rates with or with out the weights and trying heavier hooks still seemed to sink slower than corkys and the different baits did not seem as consistent as the corkys on the sink rate.

Still fresh cold water and results will definitely be different in salt water or even saltier Baffin and LM water..

Thanks for that info Jim, another thing to consider is if the bait is old and been teethed up a little, or new and fresh. The older will be a little heavier after being water logged.
I plan on trying the nail trick in the nose on a few. I have some of Pauls weights from a couple years ago, but just never used them. Guess I'll have to go dig them out of the cluster I call my tackle pile!
