The City of Galveston and the General Land Office are petitioning the Texas Supreme Court to rethink their court decision in the Severance case, as they should. Apparently the Galveston City leaders figured out they need the GLO because of the horrible erosion and storm effects there, where previously they backed Severance on property rights. Losing 40 million in beach money probably had something to do with their change of heart.

Forget TOBA and CCA organizations, and they're either defunct or don't care. A group of surfers known as Surfriders might join the case, not sure, but they have a vested interest in keeping those beaches open.

The sweet part is that now everyone is mad at Carol Severance, since she applied for FEMA funds to pay for three properties on the beach that are worth - get this - their original value before they got onto the surf line. She's going to get a check for over a million bucks and laugh all the way to the bank because she bought crap cheap, and destroyed what is a constitutional right for Texans to use the beach.

This is the kind of crap I told my wife would start happening the minute I saw those condo's going up at SLP.I am really shocked that Galveston has not closed off the west beach area and charged to drive down the beach.Galveston will soon be like Corpus.Sad but true.Those that think they own the beach -you know the ones - the ones with the million dollar sandcastles should have never been allowed to build on the beach side in the first place !!

I see it this way-farge California-just close Texas Borders and anyone with a California Driver's license is told to detour through Oklahoma to get around Texas. They are a bunch of folks that tripped out at Tim Leary's place and never came down on the good ole Lysergic Diathalymide Acid and do not deserve to be part of the USA and have no business being in Texas. They are closer in political thought to China anyways-maybe sell California to the ChiComms as payoff of US debt. Yep, that is my wish for Xmas-close the Great State of Texas to Fruitz and Nutz. I'll drink Chilean wine or Aussie wine, or good ole Texas Wine.

Also, just remember, Californutz has beaches which are privately owned-so what ya expect from some jerkazz that probably has 3 mortgages on every piece of property they own. Also, someone 'splain to me how some baby machine with no job (octomom) can have a 1/2 million dollar place to live and even qualified for a mortgage in the first place?-only in Nutso land!! Just suxs-join the ihatecalifornia&PETA&WWF&Greenpeace.org and let's lobby DC to give California to China!!

I'm from South Padre - spent my entire life fishing and hunting in the Valley, when I was a youngster there was 2 Motels on the entire island- just look at that mess today !! Even when you get down to the last cutoff - you have to pay some idiot in a little shack,just to get on the beach,I have been fishing SLP & West Bay for the last 30 years,I hate what is happening to Galveston -if you contact CCA or the TOBA - you get no reply or any kind of response at all....You would think they had a dog in this fight..As for myself - I'm sick of it - everytime some azzwipe fatcat comes down and builds another sandcastle its just more beach frontage lost.Eventually all of Galveston will be pay and park !!

Nobody cried about it 15 years ago or so when they started barricading the beach around Pirates and sea Isle so why cry now.
I gave up on this BS a long time ago. The only way they can spit in the face of the TOBA law is if "They" are getting dirty money....nothing else makes sense.
