  • Blockade Runners Oct. 8th, 9th, and 10th.

Planning on hitting the camp around sunset on Friday and staying through Sunday around sunset. We'll be doing some little things inside and a little paint prep outside. The paint is there and ready to roll. VJER and his bro will be doing the painting, perhaps starting this weekend. Tres got 2 of the walls scrubbed down and that'll get us started.

Things are really beginning to slow down and the punch list is shrinking every weekend. I'll have to learn to fish all over again once it's over. The only big project left is the generator shed. I plan on starting work on that in the next 3 weeks.

Hopefully some of y'all are fishing in the Redfish Tournament. If you'd like a place to stay, we've got room to sleep 10 comfortably. So far I plan to have 3 of us there, and 2112 may be joining in as well, so we have room for up to 6. Nobody will be expected to help out on Saturday if you're fishing the tournament. I don't even know if I have anything for anyone to help out with anyway. Like I said, the list is shrinking.

The weather promises to be glorious once again. Just let me know if you want to put in a reservation. - Sandy

Well, everything is set. We've got me, VJER, and his brother for Friday afternoon, then Friday evening we might have a couple of guys come crash. On Saturday us 3 will be joined by 2112 and his floundering party. It's nice to have enough beds to not worry about how many people are coming. I'm sure I'll check in from out there. Y'all have a great time with the tourney and best of luck to all fishing in it. - Sandy

Drat! Left my camera at the camp.

Vic and his brother Manuel made it out on Friday around noonish. They got right to work. By the time I made it down there at sunset, they had the the front of the camp painted and the last bit of trim done in the bedroom. Vic cooked up an awesome supper and I crashed while they fished. They did well with the reds, with a few trout and a flattie mixed in.

Saturday I cooked up some breakfast and the guys got to work. Vic re-did the top part of the South wall and Manuel primed it all up and put the red trim on the front wall. The place is starting to look as nice on the outside as it does on the inside. Dean came out to fish off the dock while we worked. Pat Wilson, who is not a member here yet, but he's comin' soon, showed up with his son Tyler. Soon after, 2112 showed with his flounder crew Tommy and Doug. These guys brought some really interesting food. They brought halibut and yellow eye. So we got to cookin' supper. Vic did the fish because I was afraid of messing it up. 2112 and crew went out on their expedition and would return much later for some supper. The fish and everything else turned out great! I crashed at 3:30am after having a great time hanging with everyone. What a cool day.

This morning I was rudely rousted from my slumber by a giddy Doug. He wanted me to go with him to fish the surf. I grumpily asked him if he was insane, then went back to sleep. When I finally did wake up around 9, I scraped together a breakfast for everyone. I thought Bert and crew might still be around, but they had left at some point.

Pat and Tyler left and I brought Vic and Manuel in so they could watch the Texans game at home. I stayed out to listen to the Saints on the radio. We all know how poorly our games turned out for all of us. Well, I had a peaceful afternoon out there despite the gridiron abortion eminating from my old radio. Fat Albert and I had a discussion about how we should stay and I should call in sick tomorrow. LOL. Wish I could have, but duty calls. I got out of there at 8pm and had a really tough time leaving. It gets tougher every time I go. Thanks to everyone that came out and made the weekend so enjoyable.

This coming weekend Vic and Manuel will be back at it. The South and East walls should get done, then we'll be moving lumber around so we can get the North wall done. If anyone wants in, just let me know.

Great times and Super great people!

        Hey Sandy,
I'm here now... Thanks for everything you did and a place to crash. It really means a lot to show my son the real passion for fishing and outdoors. Couldn't thank you, Vic, and Tony more for the hospitality showed to us! We will remember this weekend for a long time.
