  • Flat Fish University - FTU on the 9th

I have been reluctant to post this here on the site since the redfish tournament is happening the same day, but if you can't fish the event but have an hour or two, you might want to stop by FTU on Saturday the 9th and check out the stuff going on there.

    When: Sat. Oct. 9

Where: Fishing Tackle Unlimited (12800 Gulf Freeway @ Fuqua, Houston, TX)
    Cost: Event is FREE
    10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Created to go beyond seminars and clinics and into a truly unique realm of learning this is the result of more than 15 years of intensive study on flounder and flounder fishing and a desire to teach people a complete approach to pursuing these amazing fish.

"These are going to be fun, super informative, intensive training sessions on flounder that will be like nothing that has ever been done on the species. The motto of Flounder Revolution is 'The future of flounder fishing begins here' and Flatfish University is the vehicle by which it will take place," said founder Chester Moore.

"A couple, maybe three times a year there will be opportunities in various areas to attend a Flatfish University day and not all will be the same. There will be a basic introductory course, advanced levels and specific courses for specific areas. For someone who wants to REALLY learn about flounder, this is their opportunity. I promise their flounder fishing will never be the same."

    Seminars

Bryan Treadway (Galveston Area Bank Fishing Hot Spots)
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (Proper care for catch & release and hatchery donation of flounder)
Chester Moore (The F.L.E.X. Fishing (TM) system for catching trophy flounder*)
*This is the first time this seminar has ever been given featuring totally new techniques and strategies.

    Mini Clinics

Targeting flounder around riprap and other structure
Making Your Own Pool Cue Flounder Rod
    Knot tying for flounder fishing
Live mud minnow, mullet and shad rigging (for floats, Carolina free-lines)
    Proper Hookset for Flounder

    Flounder Olympics

If you so choose, test your skills with a fun flounder fishing obstacle course.

This has been on the books for a year, and it looks like were gonna have a packed house by the amount of email conformations Chester has recieved.

My talk will only last 30 minutes and talk about flounder spots you can walk into near Galveston ..... it will be the basics ... and only last 30 minutes ...

I will do two talks to limit the amount of people in the class, for a better ratio to answer questions later ....
