  • Water conditions?

I might try and put the boat in Fri or Sat. Plan on fishing Bastrop/SLP/Cold Pass areas. Anyone seen what the water looks like in the past couple days? Just wondering if it's chocolate milk or not.

chocolate was chocolate yesterday. not sure about near the beach.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Beachfront at SLP is VERY rough.
      Wind is 15+ straight onshore.
You'd nuts to get in it.

X2 on that, but the last few days the reds have not been running for some odd reason, maybe it is the full moon???

Anyway, this weekend is not supposed to be weather condition, but if you can handle rain and some wind, the fish are still going to eat!

I have no desire to fight a bull red . I'll be on the bay side tucked up in a cove . Maybe I won't have to lay in the marsh water all day due to rain and lightening this time .

thanks guys. if i do go, i have no plans of venturing anywhere near the surf. i always put in at bastrop marina and end up in bastrop bay or cold pass etc.

Water on the bay should be fine this weekend, I don't think the winds are supposed to be more then 10 or 15, so find some south shoreline coves and have fun. Let us know how you do.

We'll have three kayaks plying Dana cove and maybe Oak Bayou on Sunday.

Well took the boat out this evening. Didn't get in the water until 5:30 or so this afternoon. Put in at Bastrop and headed towards SLP. Tides were WAY high. At least 1ft above normal. Had a pretty stiff SE breeze. Tides were up and still coming in, hard.

                      Water conditions.
                      • Bastrop Bayou to the Intracoastal. Not only muddy, more like red tea. Nasty looking.
                      • Intracoastal to X-Mas Point (including Bastrop Bay) A little better than the bayou, but still muddy. Brown water.
                      • X-mas point to Cold Pass. Coming across Xmas bay, I could tell it was getting better. Came around the bend into Cold Pass, water looked very good. Not quite green, but pretty clear. Lure visibility 2 ft.
                      • Cold Pass from T-Head pier including Tit-Tat Bayou. Amazingly clear. Looked like water from 50 miles offshore. Dark green and crystal clear. Hard incoming tide.

Thanks Jeff! I'll be out there in the AM. Getting used to these huge tides.

Not a problem Coach. Trolled Titlum Tatlum for 30 minutes or so. Snagged a good red on a plumtreuse Brown paddler. (my favorite lure). Caught it not too far from your place near the last house on the left. Had another nice red follow the lure up to the boat, then spooked at the last second. Water looked super in the bayou there. Just real high. Saw a group of folks kicking back at the lime green house.

They call that place the "Taqueria". That dropoff in the bend has always been a producer.
