  • Anegada Pics of the Day - Hurricane Warning

We are now on warning for Hurricane Earl, which is forecast to pass as category 3 sometime tomorrow afternoon less than 50 miles to the north of us. We spent the day battening down.

These are a few pics from around sunset tonight.

Everything secured as much as we are able to. The Adirondack chairs are too large to bring indoors. I have them lashed together, hoping the bush will give them some cover. They weigh about 60 pounds each, so I don't think they will go anywhere. I just finished building the last one.

    The sunset before the storm.

Eerie sky to the northeast - there is something out there. The high clouds are banding around Earl.

Internet and power will certainly be down tomorrow. Will post after pics when able.

Will do. Nothing left to do now but drink rum.

I have hoped for quite a while that if a hurricane comes here, I am on the island. Otherwise, I would stress out worrying. Being here, I can deal with whatever and can help others out as well.

I measured yesterday - we are 7 feet above sea level. I hope that reef does it's job!

Good luck! Is there a way off the island after the storm?

I've just checked the satellite photo and the track on wunderground. The worst of Earl past north of the island, but the center past almost directly over it. The storm is cat 2 and winds at 110 mph. The storm surge, per the public advisory is 2'-4' above grade. If they are at 7' grade they may have some water at the doorstep, if not higher.

                              They are in our prayers.
