  • Blockade Runners Invite Tues-Wed-Thurs.

I'll be offline here in a few minutes and won't get back on until I'm out at the camp. Left the power cord for the laptop out there. Duh.

I'll be launching at about 6pm on Tuesday and I'll be staying out until Thursday evening. 2112 is coming out for Tues/Wed I believe and I'm sure he wants a giggin' partner. Since I'll be offline, give me a phone call if you wanna go. - Sandy

Which camp is it exactly? I might be that way this week and would like to stop by and say hello.

It's the only one on the Mud Island side of Titlum-Tatlum. The flag will be up unless it's thunderin'.

Report from VJER says water is really cleaning up and it's dead calm on the beach. He'll likely be joining in for the next few days. But I'll likely be alone for much of the time. 2112 called and had to cancel. Have 2 beds open and 2 mattresses on the floor if anyone wants to come. You don't have to spend the night, but it's always a plus. Hopefully the night fishing will be good with all the clean water coming in. I have all the fixins for making jambalaya and of course I'll have the crab traps out. I'll only cook big if I hear people are comin'.

In case there's anyone who wants to come that never has before, here's what you need to know.

              1. The place is still very rustic, but we have A/C for your sleeping comfort.

              2. Bring whatever you want to drink, plus a little extra. Unless you like diet drinks. I have about three cases of diet drinks I need to get rid of. Ice is always needed this time of year, so make sure you bring plenty.

              4. I'll be cooking jambalaya for the first night, then it's pot luck. Bring what you want for the grill or stovetop. There will be a crab boil at some point. I have potatoes and sausage, but not corn.

              5. I do have clean sheets, but there is a pillow shortage.

              6. Bring all your tackle. I usually stay around the camp, doing little projects and front porch sittin', but you are welcome to fish and crab all you want. Night fishing is usually good off the dock and you can wade all up and down the bayou if you're boatless. I also have a great pirogue if you want to paddle around.

              7. You don't need a boat to get there, my water taxi service arrives and departs on demand.

              8. Want to come, but don't know me? I never met a stranger. Come on out.

              9. Work is to be expected, but I won't wear you out. With the heat, it will be limited to about an hour a day, with many breaks. If you're really handy, I might give you a special project. If not, it will be easy stuff.

              10. If you are a drinker, that's encouraged. Just don't get so whacked that you endanger yourself, and don't act like an arse.

I'll be off line for the rest of today, and then only on line sporadically. So if you gotta get me, call me on the phone. I won't post my number here, but you can PM any one of the regulars here and they all have my permission to give it to you.

Looks like I'll have visitors! Can't wait to see y'all. I know Willie will be here bright and early, even though he said 10am. He's always early. If you do show early Willie, I've got a crazy idea about takin' a boat out the pass and fishin' the beach.

Mike, it would be GREAT to see y'all. I know you've both had a tough time of it lately. I'm afraid I might be at the same crossroads with Albert. I had to drop him off at the vet today, rather than bring him out here. The good part of that is there are no kitties here if you want to bring the other pup. I'll hear about Albert tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a hiccup. I need animals here darnit. Don't get me wrong, people are good too. But you know what I mean.

Really missin' 2112 tonight. I wish you were here Bro. Tonight's sunset was one of those that you just wanted to freeze in time and live in it for a ggod long while before you let it slip away. It was the best sunset since January. Wish you were here Bert. Get out here for some therapy as soon as you can Bro.

Sittin' out here on the porch, attending the Church of my choosing. I have so much to be thankful for, and that's what's not so bad about being out here alone. It's good for the soul to commune with nature for a while. When I arrived this afternoon, it was strangely cool. The whispy clouds seemed to really take the heat of the day out of the sunshine. Dad gum it's beautiful out here. I'll never take one single moment for granted.

I've already got a small project lined out for myself tomorrow. The plumber will be showing as well, installing the shower head. Just have to build the dad gum cistern pad and start catching rain water. Ah well, one step at a time.

VJER will be on the Dawn Patrol at the beach in the AM and head out here with Tres' boat when he's done. I'm sure he'll have some things to do too. Every little improvement brings us closer to completion. He'll be spendin' the night tomorrow, so that means the lights will be out on the dock tomorrow night. Maybe I'll wet a line.

No doubt, you have something special. Thanks for sharing it.

                      What are your projects?
                      1. Paint inside/outside
                      2. Build generator shed
                      3. Build cistern

Do you have a project plan?

No need to paint the inside, except perhaps VJER's cabinets. Plan? I do have an "Idea", but not a plan.

I awoke this morning to lots of plumbing supplies on the dock. Glenn Hill, my plumber had been by and was out fishin'. After I finished breakfast, he came by and got the shower all hooked up so we can put the wall up. WillieP showed while that was going on. After chootin' the chit for a while, Glenn cast netted a passel of finger mullet and headed back out fishin'. Willie and I sat on the porch and did absolutely nothing.

VJER called and said he couldn't make it, so it was just me and Willie all day. Of course he brought some good fried chicken and scrimps. Thanks Willie! I'm sorry we didn't do a darn thing. It was soooo darn hot today. He couldn't even get me out of the shade for a boat ride. Glenn came back after scratching out a limit of reds around the corner, joined in the FPS for a while and headed in. After Willie left, I took a freakin' awesome nap, waking up just in time to catch another glorious sunset.

I'm supposed to come in tomorrow, but I'll see what I wanna do. Summer's almost over. Gotta get all I can of the bayou before school starts.
