I wonder how those plugs cast , Gater. Certainly spot on for looking like a needlefish, and trout do love them. How about a cheaper reproduction by using norton sand eels , as previously mentioned , or even a freshwater straight worm in the right color ?

Walker, could be a good shot for catching trout on the needle fish flies. I have caught them on top water flies when the needles or ballywho are on the flats. There's an old fly that isn't so easy to find these days, Scates mud minnow. It's a deer hair slider, that has blue and green tinsel that gives off a lot of flash. I bet that if you could make a sparse version of your needle fish fly, with a floating head, you would get them on some of the grass flats.
