  • locating new fishing places

Went out on a road trip today to a place called Chinquapin. Not real excited about the village there (actually a pretty raw fishing village), but the fishing could be good. Its by a lake called Lake Austin. On the way down the gravel dirt road to that place, saw a lot of birds I've not seen many other places, quail, storks, etc. The big pull there is really Big Boggy Creek NWM area. Lots of bait and lots of possible bank crabbing along the road. The creek and the lake are really meant for very shallow boats. Could be an interesting place to fish. Have any of you fished there?

Was it the 2cool special little cabin?

I stayed there with a group of guys in May and when the lights came on the redfish came in thick. They were busting big shad all over the place. They would only hit a small stickbaits though, finger mullet sized. I only caught one trout there in the lights but it was a 23 so I cant complain. We ran back into the lake and up the bayou but didnt stop to fish. There might be some reds back there but I wouldnt expect any amazing fishing during the daytime at least. But try lights like TTM said
