Lurefisher, the subsea control systems I'm building now are designed to prevent these type's of accidents from happening....( in the production mode ) we can close in the well and unlatch in 10 seconds in 10,000 ft water depth and move off location..This accident happened during the drilling operation and a blowout preventer is designed to close in the well before it blows out........once it blows out all bets are off...there is nothing designed to control it once the rig is gone and the damage has been done.

I'll try to post up some picture's of a LMWP (Lower Marine Workover Package)tomorrow which is almost the same thing as a LMRP only smaller and is used in the production mode.

ive changed my mind on this. BP needs to be hammered and I think they will...I never thought it possible that you could kill a major oil before but I think thats going to happen.

I think they deserve to be and I believe that will happen.

I think BP should wind up being owned by the state of Lousiana.

I don't see that happening but you never know. I still don't understand all the hate. BP is pumping lot of money into this and doing everything they can to get it under control. Gater

Like i ask Sneeky ,its just me but if they would have pumped the cement and mud right and shut the well with pressure they would loose there lease,if they recover while flowing they can keep the lease which is a good hole?

I just hope everyone who is killing BP over this accident has there wind driven cars ready.Ya'lls president is creating jobs by shutting down the oilfield and offshore drilling. How many thousands of successful wells have been brought on line without an incident.Hell their dumping that much raw sewage in to the Atlantic Ocean in West Africa everyday and no one is talking about that.In 1979 a well in Mexico flowed more oil into the Gulf than this one on a daily basis for 9 months...and I don't remember seeing tar balls for years on our beaches and I surfed all over Mexico and Texas.People need to realize why they have jobs to go to...its all possible because you live in the gulf coast (BIG OIL).Go to Mississippi and take a look at what the oilfield does for their economy, oilfield worker, lumber yard,or GOVERMENT CHEESE those are your options.Be careful what you ask for there going to drill somewhere in the world...and whoever is doing it is a WORLD POWER COUNTRY....better brush up on your Chinese, Korean and Arabic languages....I prefer CAJUN get back to drilling in the Gulf and revise procedures and contingincy plans.

You're right on the money. Many people in the country and unfortunately also the government have a knee jerk reaction without considering the effects.......but a New Orleans oil service company (crew boats) has filed in federal court against the Interior Department for the capricious halting of deep water drilling for 6 months without cause.

Im not bashing Big Oil or the Oil business, believe me. My father worked for big oil his entire career and ive been in the oil business my entire career for 30 years and am still in the oil business; and own interest in a number of BP wells. We'd all be speaking German if it werent for the oil business. I just believe that BP totally f**** this up and I believe that BP will never be the same as weve known it.

I'm really really really dammm happy I dont own any BP stock either. but unfortuantely, im not sure owning a marina is any better.

                              The marina is worse!
No one likes what happened to the men that were killed and their families or the coastal environmental damage. Ruining a major oil company and stopping off shore drilling will not bring either back.

I wish the Media would focus on the ones who lost their lives and livelihood as much as the 6 oil laden pelicans on TV.You could kill 50 thousand pelicans in La. and not even make a dent in the pelican population in that state.Ain't know one crying over all the dead snow geese on the Katy praire each winter from hunters.Maybe shutting down the fishing in the region for a while will make it better in the long run if it has a chance to recover from commercial fishing and longliners.I bet Longliners kill more tuna, swordfish, and othe expendable fish each season than this spill. How many ducks you think those Cajun's eat every year and were worried about a few hundred pelicans. How many people can name any of the ones that lost their life in the explosion? thats who we should be focusing on is their familys, children and grandchildren.Nope gotta glorify these pelicans and give'em a bath. With all the snakes in the marsh I wonder how will get washed clean like a pelican. Haven't seen 1 netura rat being washed off and there are gazillion of those in Grand Isle.No glamor in a snake or a netura rat....or dead oilfield hand....
