  • A different day on the water

So... Back to Chocolate today. Ran into Corndog in the Mudda (recognized the boat - first time to meet Corndog).

Not much action for an hour or so - a few grunts, so we decided to move. I reached down to turn on the ignition and - no key....

I asked my wife if she had seen it. She asked if it had something red on it.

I said yes - a small red float.

She said that she saw something red go flying with her line when she cast - an hour or so ago....

The good news is I have a spare key. The bad news is that it is in the truck - back at the ramp.

We were not far from the ramp (about half a mile), but the trolling motor would not get us there without help. I have two 12 volt marine batteries, but they apparently need replacing. They should have powered that trolling motor.

She was able to steer the boat with the trolling motor while I paddled - about half a mile back to the ramp. Not a single boat passed during the half hour that it took to get back. And damn - I am sore.

Anybody have recommendations on where to get new batteries?

I'm so glad the Mudda is getting so much use! Wow, key flew out with the hook? That's crazy! Keep the extra key in your drybox Bro! It's saved me once.

As far as batteries, there are some awesome batteries out there that I can't afford. I really hate Wal-Mart, but I've had the best luck with their batteries. If they go bad before the warranty, no matter where you are, you're close to a Wal-Mart. Hard to beat the price too.

The least the damned key could have done was catch a fish. After all, it was attached to a nice rapala body.

That's almost funny Walker-thanks, now I know where to keep my extra key-it's been hanging on a key hook at house, now it'll be in a baggie in glove box marked "EXTRA KEY".

Bummer, Walker....but hey, you got your paddling exercise in too

Our extra boat key is in my purse....probably not the best place for it either. Might have to rethink that one.

Great read Walker......I like the interstate or Continental batteries.
I am going to check and make sure my extra key is under the seat when I get home!
