Agreed there. Beer awarded when I see y'all in person.

You know who's worried? the Texas shrimpers. They generally fish that area between now and July 15th when the brown shrimp season opens off the Texas sector. The white shrimp, which can be much larger than the brown, fetch a pretty good price even though they burn a lot of diesel to motor over from Texas ports. We're talking like U-12 shrimp here.

But the sinking oil, dispersal chemicals, and complex but strong currents have these old boys worried.

Truth be known, a bunch of the water coming out the Mississippi flows southeast towards Texas in a broad zone that is misnamed the "Dead Zone" for all the fertilizer in the water. The Mississippi current hugs the coast of Texas and can get down as far as Port Aransas and sometimes on a big north wind like a hurricane, South Padre Island.

Us old-timers and shrimpers know this, and don't like what they're hearing. I certainly wouldn't put $30,000 into a shrimp boat trip to fish up yonder by that mess of yucky-pooh. People talk about Louisiana shrimpers potlicking our coastline, but we do it to theirs and we used to hit it hard. The shrimpers at Sabine Pass were perhaps the best potlickers in the world! Well them days could be over for this season, which was delayed because of cold water but shaping up to be a banner year.

Sales lines have to be built at huge expense and then again be built across land so your home has natural gas, supply plants and factories, and run the economy. Folks that have no clue as to what it takes to drill FIND and produce oil and gas are the same type folks that find P.E.T.A. and enviros attractive because of so-called "political correctness" and fail to see that their present day world would be like living in 1850 if oil wasn't so important to all our lives-no plastics for your fishing lures, no fishing line, no electricity (can't make batteries without petroleum products), not much of anything used on a daily basis by an American that isn't based on petroleum products-no computers, no cars, no TV, no cable, no planes, satellites, radios, 22" rims for gangbangers, not much of anything-even Pamela Anderson can thank the oil industry-where would she be without implants?

Well spoken I stated out reading everyone’s post and was getting pi**ed. I’m glad to see that logic and intelligence did not escape everyone.

I always remember the time I was buying an oil and gas lease from a guy in Vidor; trying to get on the play Amerada Hess had. The idiot starting arguing about the lease bonus I was paying and we ended the talk and I walked off.

My partner later said on the ride home..."I cant believe that you sat there and argued w/ a nit-wit"....... just comparing.
