  • Freshwater Question

I am in process of signing up for my first bass tourney, and I am looking to find a spot locally I can try a few fishing patterns on.

I am looking to find a lake with clear water (if there is one) I can fish with my skiff in the upper coast area. I know the obvious lakes (Sommerville, Houston, Livingston, Conroe) I am looking a lake that may not be obvious.

    All help is greatly appreciated.-Brandon

Sheldon Reservoir - just off the beltway on the east side of Houston, only a few miles north of I-10. Close by, clear water, and lots of bass - especially this time of year.

It is a cool little lake with really clear water. No outboards on the lake, but you don't really need one. The ramp is on the SW corner. There are lots of trees and grass beds. By June the grass will have overtaken the lake and you won't hardly be able to fish it.
I need to get back out there myself before the weeds get too bad.
