  • Oil Leak

I just walked behind the boat and there is oil leaking out of the lower unit onto the ground. I don't know enough about lower units to know what exactly needs to be done to fix it. I assume there are seals that probably need to be replaced. How difficult is it to pull it and replace them?

Mine has been one problem after another since Clint decided the ENTIRE boat needed a bath!

Can't figure out is that is a filler plug, a drain plug, or something else like a freeze plug insert. It sure looks thick & black though, so you could mebbe use some new lower unit lube anyway. Never seen anything like that.

Looks like time for some strong cleaning fluid and some JB Weld.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

Looks like he spilled some oil on his lower unit so he could just go out in my boat....Guess he can use my Yak!!Or I could always just tow him.

X2 It shouldn't leak there and the gear oil is very bad, but doesn't appear to have any water in it! LOL
