Since your report from the 15th? with your uncle, I suggest you just email me the info-which consists of gps coords, type of bait, wind direction/speed, water clarity and temp, sky conditions, tide and barometric pressure and I'll keep it for you!! Yuk yuk. Geez, you slayed em!!

Actually, with computers, it should be dang easy to set up a template, print it, carry with you and fill out as day goes or just remember the stuff and type it up when ya get home-I'd use Excel SS or use Outlook Calendar. I think using Excel would be better than Outlook-just for printing reasons alone, plus the copy/paste is functional and easily add date tabs to bottom of each page and could make each tab a week or month long period with simple headings. Some folks use a day planner.

You don't have Excel but you have Word???? Usually you have Excel Program-comes with "Office"-open "All Programs" at "start" button and scroll and see if it's on your 'puter. Word will work-just harder to set up columns/headings. I would use Excel-easy to set up and copy and paste to other tabs-but if not, word can work and again, set up the parameters such as I listed above and that way you can easily "fill in data" when you get home or next day-I tried to keep a log many many years ago-got lazy and would forget some stuff and after a while, said heck with it.

Or, just gimme yur info-(ha ha).

Don't waste $-use Word or just buy a "Day Planner" at Walgreens or use a spiral notebook-I like the computer because it's easy to locate and won't get lost like most all my old books and notebooks. Good luck and keep up the great reports-thanks Extremewaderdude!

You can create a table in Word. Just use that instead of getting excel.

I like Word just fine, but ain't to religious about it ... the nice part is that you can store your best picture in the document and note any conditions you want. Otherwise, in a spreadsheet it's just rows and rows of numbers and letters, know what I mean?

I've also used free blogs like 'Blogspot' by Google. This is only if you want others to know how good you are - there's a tarpon fisher down here that does that. Unlimited posts and gigs of disk space, sweet. It's more work but it's always there, even if your PC crashes.

I just use a Word document, and add a new page for each fishing trip.

                    Example....

                    Sunday, February 07, 2010
                    Wind: 15 knot E
Wind tendency: Strong NW wind died night before, turned E and increased, calming somewhat during early morning before kicking up again.
                    High overcast skies.
Low tides, increasing strongly throughout day
Clear water in protected shoreline, but sandier mid-bay.

Strong wind chop in bay, but manageable. Drifted diagonally out into bay with jerkshads on 1/16oz heads. Best action was after shore dropoff (~75yds out), in ~3-4’ water, over broken shell and mud. 3 trout to 19”. Missed one due to premature hookset (moving fish). 1 large rat red. Very little bait, further out. Somewhat sandy water in mid-bay had more trout and bait in it!

Then I take a screenshot of a google satellite map of the area, paste it into MS paint, draw in the areas I fished, and where any hits were, and copy it into Word just below the written details.

I made up a code for myself with water/temp/fish # / type / bait used and input the data in my GPS on the way back to the dock. Unfortunately quite a few of my entries say "Skunk" in the fish category.
                        Shut up and FISH!!

I kept them for years when I was younger and had more time to fish. I've given up on them though as my fishing time has faded some. These days I hit the water when I can hit the water. I know generally what to use when and where depending on the time of year and water conditions. It has worked mostly, I have good days and bad days, but that's why its called fishing.

Knowing what is unproductive is actually really good info too.
