I will be staying in Gorda this coming weekend. I will be taking my Polling skiff and 2 Kayaks. There will be 3 of us on the boat. Where is a good place to drop off the 2 guys in the Kayaks. I was thinking about taking the diversion into west bay and dropping them off into the marsh and then drifting & trolling from the boat.
This will be my first time to fish west bay- What advise do y'all got?

If you go to west bay make sure you check with the matagorda lock master to see if the east lock will be open all day or you could be spending the night in west bay.they have been closing the east locks for repair.Call him on channel 13 when you get to the big bridge.you can drop the yakers off on river road and there is a ton of marsh drains near st marys that have been holding fish in east bay.hope this helps...

I was told that the east lock is open now. They told me that they are only working on the west lock. Which is why I was thinking about the diversionary. I will be dropping the yakers off at a place that they can not normally go to so that is also why I was loOking @ west bay.

there a lot of fresh water coming down the colorado right now you might have to go west for a bit to find good water...the water looked ok at oilfieldcut and at the cullen house,cotten was holding fish and good water,pipeline & fence line was holding bait and small reds and trout....
