  • Surf and West Bay Today (Friday)

Got to the surf this morning a little before 6am to find it pretty windy and rough. Didn't see many other people out and the few I did see weren't having much luck. Left there and headed to the bay and it was dead...at least for us. Did some wade fishing and drifting, could sight a lot of fish but not biting. Tried shrimp, DOA shrimp, vodu under popping cork, salt water assassins weedless but nada. Am I missing something or is it just tough going? Fishing out of Terramar and just to the east and west. Hopefully you all are filling the coolers!

I thought I'd report back on how we ended up doing. First, thank you to everyone who responded or sent me a PM, I really do appreciate it. After getting off to a rough start we ended up catching a ton of trout using a spec rig with crappie jigs. They wouldn't take anything bigger, at least not from me! Most were a little too small but got some keepers. Then on a whim used pink fishbites on a bottom rig in the grass flats to pull in several reds including 3 keepers in about an hour. Tide was low all weekend the west wind has the water pretty murky but we found out what they wanted and just kept with it. Good luck and thanks again for everyone who pitched in!
