Wow, that sucks for him, his friends, and his family. At least he died doing what he loved, and not in a car wreck or something far more statistically likely.

I'm surprised a kite boarder got hit. Kiteboarders (especially good ones), spend the vast majority of the time on their boards and moving. In contrast, a surfer spends a lot more time laying down waiting for waves, dangling arms and legs over the side. I wonder if it was a fast reaction strike while he was boarding, or a shark happened to get him while down. Bad news either way

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

Paper said maybe young great whites? Either way, bad pretty much sums it up-sorry for his family.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I didn't see that in the link to the newspaper article, although it did mention lemon, bull and hammerhead sharks being common. My thinking is the bull shark, since they are known to be man-eaters with a pack mentality. Lemons and hammmerheads are usually not aggressive toward humans.

There was a great white incident over in the Bahamas last year, and last summer one was tagged off New England. Whites tend to be solitary and quite rare in the Atlantic and Gulf.

But since nobody could ID one, well, who knows? The great white, bull, and tiger shark are known to attack people.

I understood, so I thought, that Lemons can be aggresive. They get big too.

Naw, there's lots of talk about some kinds of sharks being "apex creatures" but really, think about it, mankind it the worst ever on this planet. Sharks only kill a few people a year, less than the number who get struck by lightning, Yet every day we kill thousands of sharks, especially by longline and large nets such as for menhaden. Pelagic sharks are so over-fished some species have become listed as endangered. The thresher shark is one. And in many countries near the Orient, sharks are slaughtered by the hundred just to keep their fins, for shark-fin soup.

We the baddest boys in the food chain, sir. But I agree, if you're going to present yourself as bait, well, the shark has a prehistoric brain the size of a pea, and he'll bite ya - not that humans taste very good to a shark.
