Eddie came down and I took him to the "A" Lease field in the bay (outside Eagle Point) this morning. He bought croakers so I swallowed my pride and fished them with him--go ahead Jeremy, let me have it.
We had these 14 and 2 flatties. The fish may not look it but there were only 4 under 20" and the rest went to 20 to 24. We released 4 trout over 24".
Barely made the launch cause my truck transmission quit on me at the ramp (after I put the boat in the water)-barely got the trailer out and parked. We decided to worry about it after fishing, hoping the transmission had just overheated or something and it would be OK when we got in after cooling off....NOT! I had to call a friend to come get my trailer and boat and pull it back to my house. Now look forward to slaying that dragon tomorrow.
All in all a very good day, otherwise.
    Here's a pic.....

great trip except the transmission part !

I fished July 1 with a guide friend and his wife...drifted Hanna's . I got skunked and he got one trout on artificials . She got 14 with croakers .... they do make a difference . I didn't post because I couldn't get my Iphone pictures to download .

If someone else wants to spend a buck apiece for a croaker, I'll be danged if I ain't gonna use 'em, but it will be a cold day in Sweeny (Hell) before you see me buy live bait. I always end up eating the leftover live shrimp...now I'm trying to think of a way to fry those little leftover croakers.

I viewed an episode of NAKED AND AFRAID where they steamed some similar sized fish in aromatic leaves and they raved how wonderful they tasted . Of course , they hadn't eaten in 2 weeks , but , I thought you might want to try it . 😀
