  • Missing Fishermen at SLP

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but there are reports of a fishermen missing at San Luis Pass this morning. Donna was walking the dogs and saw coast guard, lifeguards and police heading that way. Let's pray for him and his family! PLEASE be safe out there and fish areas you know. SLP has a reputation and there are signs everywhere.

Your right, it is just amazing to me that it happens to fishermen that I am sure know the area or why else would you be there. The signs are in Spanish and English and heck, if you look at the water you can see how much displacement there is. Just frustrating seeing on Memorial Day, 3 good Samaritans when in there to help save a lady and 1 dies for his efforts.

I was wondering what happened Memorial Day. I went offshore out of Matagorda and was driving back over the bridge and saw all the emergency vehicles. So three guys went in to help a lady and one didn't come back?

He was was wading Bird Island.... The tides were light this morning. He went down in an area that is not as bad as the actual pass itself. I was anchored next to them but I left before the accident happen. I beleive that he was an experienced fishermen. Don't know what happened because of the week tides this morning. They were wading a deeper gut. Very sad news and I heard he was found.
              Prayers out

I read online (chronicle columnist I think) that he tried to swim across the gut. No idea how anyone would know that unless someone was with him.

Thanks Kenny. I missed the 'them'.

                    Really terrible news.

This is horrible, but a good reminder that it can happen to anyone. Prayers to the family of this fella. I'm wearing my PFD.

He was a friend of mine and it's crazy how it can happen to anyone out there, but I do know that he wasn't a great swimmer and believed he panicked and went down an that was it. It's very sad and he was a great guy and a hard worker. His family an friends will be in my prayers.

Sorry about you losing a friend, it's always hard and you question why. Be strong for his family.
