Spoke to Lynne (VJER's widow) and she said the surgery was successful, but they took a lot more off than they thought they would. They went to just below the knee. He's in good spirits. He asked the nurse to call him Stumpy.

Looks like between TroutSupport and Tortuga, we've got the walker and the shower stool taken care of y'all. Still looking for a recliner that's wide enough for his dog (about 15 lb. terrier) to sit next to him in. Thanks to everyone for the prayers, but please if you will, keep them coming for his recovery. Tony has very little and lives a meager existence. With this happening, he won't be able to work, so he'll be living on disability. He seems to think he'll get back to work after about 6 months when he can be fitted with a peg leg. It's inspiring to me that he's that optimistic. If I were in his place, I might be prone to feeling sorry for myself, and he's not doing that.

Thank you trophytroutman, but it looks like the chair is handled already y'all. Haute Pursuit and Tortuga on TOS were vehement about taking care of it. All we need now is for him to get well enough to come home. Keep those prayers coming. Thank Y'all again. - Sandy

Tony is home now and doing pretty well. I went over after school today and cooked him up a redfish on the halfshell. He wanted me to relay to all of you, his thanks for the prayers and well wishes. He's never been on the internet once in his life, so you won't see him post here. He's amazed and thankful for the support from so many people, most of whom he has never met. He is not a very sentimental person, but when he stopped me tonight as I was walking out the door, he said, "Hey Bud, can you get on that board tonight and thank all those people for their offers of help and 'specially their prayers. I really think they made a difference for me. It's important to me that they know how thankful I am."
