IMO the Diawa silverware is a much better spincast reel than the zebco and the same price. My kids haven't found anything they can't break except these reels, each one has gone through about three broken rods.

I just don't see quality in Zebco anymore. I had a Zebco 33 that lasted me 30 years. Sure I didn't use it much once I got a grown up reel (spinning), but I always had it at the camp or on the boat and it got used a lot by kids and ladies. So when it died, I went and got a new one. It lasted one trip. So I got an "All Metal". That one lasted maybe 6 trips, being used sparingly. I tried an Abumatic and I like it. Not as ergomatic as the old 33, but it works well and it hasn't died yet. I've heard the Diawas are good too, but Zebco for me was a big disappointment.
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

Just go with a true spinning reel not a pushbutton zebco way better quality with half the hassle

808 if they still make them. Like others said-try a spinning reel.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I have had some luck with the catfish setups you find at the big box stores.I have three of them that stay on the boat in the lockers all the time and seldom get a bath, they are like toasters, die throw it down and get another one. They cost under $30 ready to fish RTF.
I keep them around, for the following reason , i can tie on a diffrent plastic to each one, and act like a bass pro guy on tv for under a hundred dollars. I have some nice things too, can not have 60K worth of boat and display a rack of zeb 33's .. Peer Pressure around Seabrook area.
