At it again Sunday morning. The wind was blowing a little harder out of the SSE at 11-15 mph. Started with the usual tops but switched to tails very quickly and managed these 4. I walked in the water at sunrise and was walking out by 10:40. My last hook up was with what quiet possible could have been a 30" trout. I thought it was a red for the first 2-3 min of the fight. when she showed herself my heart skipped a beat. Everytime i got my bogas close she would scream off drag. She finally after about 5-8 min got that hook out somehow. I was upset at first but really enjoyed the fight and that was the best a trout has offered in quiet sometime. I cant post pic right now my office computer is acting funny. ill post later when i get home

How thrilling and disappointing ! I've always heard that landing a big trout requires all the variables to work in your favor ..... I can't say from experience , har !GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

Every hook up is a learning experience that's what keeps us coming back. Some of my best days was basically hours of casting practice and changing lures and learning How to work then differently. You would be surprised how versatile lures can be with a tweak here and there, don't be afraid to experiment.

i agree .... Some guys don't like nets because you might get a hook caught and the fish slips off , it wipes off more slime for one's to be released , a bother to have it attached to you , ....... But i've seen too many fish get off while trying to grasp a fish or get a hook in you hand . A net is a better bet .Originally posted by team reel pimp View Postbring a net padna anytime i'm fishing specifically for trout i bring a net,get her in the net then you can worry about the boga, trust me i've lost nice trout tryin to grab em with the boga. I don't like nets. I grab them and if they get away before the vice grip gets em....they gone. I'll cuss a little get a fresh pinch of Copenhagen and start casting back at em. It makes for a good story.
