Well all of you that know me knows how much I love to corky fish. I had a couple of stellar days during what we south Texans call winter. But all in all the winter bite was a bit of a disappointment. The water temps never dropped below 56 degrees and broken backs/ corkys from what I have found work best in 48- 52 degree water temps. So its time I guess to breakout the minidine, softdines, clean the tops, and change the hooks on the hunchbacks, and load up on the down south/nortons. I caught a couple this weekend in that 74 degree water in February. You get that? 74 freaking degrees in Feb. I look forward to those days its so cold you cant feel your fingers on the reel, or when a rogue wave comes along and fills up the back of your neoprene's with icy cold water. What's a trout angler to do? Im betting its gonna be a HOT summer.
