  • PFD advice

For wade fishing and running in rough weather what is your favorite and most comfortable PFD ??
Do you like the ones with pockets for gear or just the smaller ones for comfort?? Do "some" kayaking, but not much. Any comments and advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks and Happy New Year

I keep a couple of the auto inflates in the boat for friends but I prefer the vest PFDs. I started wearing them when I kayaked a lot and still wear it as I fish mostly by myself. I wear the Kokotat Bahia Tour PFD currently. It has a pocket that holds my handheld VHF. I have had several different brands over the years. The Stohlquist my wife uses seems to be the most durable. Except for the radio pocket, I don't use the pockets. I carry around too much crap already.

I wear a dual auto inflatable / manual inflatable in the boat and kayak . It's a lot cooler and less bulky than a life vest . For wading , I wear a wade belt that is like a ski belt . It's a WADE AID wade belt . That brand is no longer made but there is another brand available . I can find the brand if you would care to know . The belt will float you .
