  • Collecting Corkys?

I got curious on TOB with an old thread about rare Corkys. Ok, I have to know why someone collects Corkys. I mean what's the motivation? Do you do it just as a hobby, or think someday they'll be worth a lot of money?
I get collecting guns or art, but soft plastic lures....not so much.

I've got some still in the original package, for me it's purely a nostalgic thing.
There are plenty of people that swear the old garage models work better and I feel like I can see somewhat of a difference in those vs the mirrolure models as well but could just be the power of suggestion.

If you look at my tackle box you would think I collect lures of all sorts. Don't use 95% of them. They worked pretty good I think, they caught me. HaHa!

Thanks, I just don't have a lot of nostalgia, so keeping things for sentimental reasons is not something that I generally do, especially a fishing lure. I do have an odd collection of small family stuff and some small objects that I think are interesting.
Every Corky that I ever bought was for fish catching.

That's amusing. Ask Dpop, John Havens or Jim Wallace if they think they're overrated

No disrespect intended. Just my opinion. I'm one that used to go to the garage in Pasadena with David Demate and Robyn Burnett so they could grab up what " was new on the scene."

I would say that the old original corkies are collected just simply because they aren't made anymore. It's the same with comic books or trading cards. There's no real inherent value in those items but since they are out of circulation, or some are purposefully in limited quantities, creates a market.

I know this horse is beat but I'll just say this, it's cool to have an original from the makers hands .
A corky and it's variants aren't the only thing I throw when it gets cold but like em or not, a corky is deadly . My 2-1/2 cents
