Texas City Dyke 10-29-2015

My friend Merrill called me last minute to see if we can score some flatties before the limit change. Went and fished some drains and rocks. I scored these few on gulps on a popping cork. Water looked good and we looked every were but found few flounder and most that we did catch were small. Wind picked up around 11:30am and the bite slowed down considerably so we left.

Never had a run in with port police before yesterday. We always skirt the restricted area but always stay clear and comply with the law. But yesterday was the exception I guess. He said we were to close and had to leave even though were in legal water just casting into a restricted area. He was just doing his job, it's just hard to leave a place we have fished since we were kids. That are now restricted since 9/11. It's a darn shame. I think of the fish holed up in so many of these places throughout the year makes my casting arm hurt.

Hate to hear you were ran off by a "mistaken bacon" that acted like he knows the law. Bunch of lying idiots in a costume. He should go worry about something else besides a few guys catching a few fish. They also like to lie to you and tell you it is illegal to film from public access.
