A buddy and I are heading that way late November 5th and plan to have a hook in the water the next morning. We are staying in Bay Harbor. I know a lot of folks are fishing SeaWolf Park. I haven't been there but I imagine it will be shoulder to shoulder and that's not what I'm into. Is SeaWolf worth the trouble I expect it will be or am I way off on my expectations?

Depends on what you are targeting, weather conditions and wind and tides."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Yeah that was kind of a broad question. Plan is to target flounder but I believe the limit is two so I will probably see what else I can get into after that, if that happens. I haven't even checked weather yet or what the tides are going to look like. But it's on my list. I think the last time I fished saltwater may have been my bachelor party in 2009 and I'm passing up on hunting opening weekend. So this is a pretty deal for me.

Seawolf Park Pier is a good place to catch flounder. The best spot though is as close to the bank as you can get and you better believe it will be elbow to elbow at the front of the pier. You could always choose to wade the ship channel side by the submarine but there will be other waders there too. After getting your limit you could try for red and black drum off the end. I'm like you though and really not into crowded fishing and line tangling so I drive down to the other end of the island and fish San Luis Pass. I have some beach rod holders and set up two poles. I use a double drop rig with live finger mullet and a 2oz sinker. set up my chair with my beer cooler next to me and stare at the water and wait for my rod to bend. I admit I do wade out to cast my lines but I've been going there my whole life and know all to well that there's a serious drop off in the pass and drowning is all to common there so I don't go out far. If you've never been there I wouldn't recommend wading out at all. Another good flounder spot is the Ferry landing on the Galveston side. Like Seawolf though in November it's going to be crowded, but its free. You could also try Rollover Pass on the Bolivar Peninsula in Gilchrist. That's another great flounder spot in November. I saw a post yesterday from Nancy's Bait Camp there of a 5 fish limit of flounder caught using Berkley Gulps and they all looked like 18'-20" fish. Hope this helps. Just hope the weather is nice.

We are staying near the pass so I'll probably hang in that are. I've waded the pass but we stayed a pretty good way up the bay side. I am not chancing an accident so I'll just cast out as far as I can and enjoy the scenery.
I am going to try seawolf early Friday morning and hopefully will get a jump on the weekend crowd.
We have a lighted pier in bay harbor subdivision. How is the bite at night under lights?

I decided to hang around the pass the entire weekend. With the bike rally and the rain I'm not going to mess with SWP.
I'm looking at the SLP on google maps and NOAA nautical charts and I'm trying to figure out which side of the SLP would be best to fish from. I've fished from the Galveston side in the past but have not ventured to the County park side but it looks like it would be pretty good with the cold pass and bay coming together and heading out the pass there. Can you get day access to the county park? Is it worth it?
I'm hoping I can cast out into enough water that I won't feel the need to wade. If anyone is heading out there Friday-Sunday feel free to stop at the 2000 Silver Dodge Ram and give me a pointer or two.

We fished last night under lighted pier bay side until about 2. No specks but the sand trout threw us a welcome back party around 10:00 pm for the first 45 minutes and the they moved on. We hung out until about 2 with a bit here and there. Shrimp was the main course.
Fished this morning at the pass. Threw a little of everything at anything that may have been out there. Stayed about 250 yards north of pass up to the small cut at the point. Only bites were from small fish that we could quite hook.
Taking the flat bottom out with trolling motor to work along the shoreline until we see something fishy.
