  • New Curado

How many people have used the new Curado? Shimano took a perfectly good reel, raised the price about one-third and then, by changing the mechanics, managed to turn it into a piece of junk. I used one for the first time yesterday and after tinkering with the internal anti backlash about 20 times still could not get the reel to cast worth a flip. Have any of you had a similar experience?

I hear that every time they come out with a new model. I haven't tried the latest ones, but I've been pretty happy with the ones prior.

That's why I went to the lews tournament lite and bb1 inshore. Shimanos are just back ups now.

I left Shimano years ago when I had water in the reel after every trip without dunking . Too expensive too .

I had the cirado I model for about 6 months and sold it. Don't like the brake system or the ergonomics at all.
Fished cronarch 50e's for quite a while and loved them but they're slow and pretty finicky for wading.
Using the concept c's by 13 fishing now and I'll be doing a write up on them here pretty soon.
I liked trophy trout man's lews a lot by the way.

I use the shimano caenan and I've never had any issues with it. I've used it for trout, reds, and even caught a 52 inch red in the surf. I love it

I got one when they came out; had a lot of problems with it after the first month or so. I wouldn't buy another one, but I did take it apart, soaked/cleaned/re-lubed/greased, and added new bearings after the first year. Its a whole different reel now and is super smooth. My favorites gotta be the 200E7s though.

A little TLC goes a long way with my shimanos, I have 18 shimanos, chronarchs, curados,a citica, and a Calcutta or 2, never had one fail on me yet I still have the first green curado I got when I was 12 years old its a little rough but fishable, and 85% of my fishing is wading, honesty all I do after a trip is wash with water, spray a little wd-40 in the drain ports and the outside and its good to go. maybe im just lucky. but ill never switch, i tried a concept ..... handle broke 3rd trip, took it back and exchanged for store credit and bought another 50e chronarch.
