  • 4 wheeler question

Looking to buy a 4 wheeler, 2 or 4 wheel drive to do some riding on a pipeline behind my house. around the 500cc size. I have no idea what brand is good, Polaris, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki???? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Friendswood. Thanks

I've had Polaris and Honda, both have been excellent and trouble free. The Honda has power steering and reverse which is not mandatory but really a nice feature.

I grew up on Honda. No complaints.

I have had my Honda rancher 350 for 6 years now and it is a 2005 and never had any real problems with it. My dad has a 2002 Yamaha grizzly 450 and his runs like a champ as well. I would only recommend looking at Yamaha or Honda. I think Polaris and Kawasaki are better for side by sides.

I have a 2001 Kawasaki prairie 400 that purrs like a kitten and will crawl through anything. Bought it used and the guy I got it from never had an issue with it either.

I have a 1999 Honda rancher 460 4x4. My brother has a Polaris 600? 2x4 auto transmission. His rides like a cadillac, smooth, comfy and fast. His is likely a 97 year model. No issues for either-just change the plugs and oil and run it each month or plan on carb cleaning. Batteries last 1-2 years only. My Honda beats you up on rocks/bumps but goes over pretty much anything except highcentering on big logs. I've ridden Kawasaki's-very much like the Polaris.

I bought mine used-cheap-under $2k over 6 years ago. No way I'd ever buy a new 4 wheeler-sheez, may as well buy a used jeep that can be street legal for $6k.

If your going with a four wheeler, your best bet is the Honda. Best out there. If you go with a side by side get a Polaris ranger.

The rancher as robalo said is a excellent machine.

I added just a front gun rack (soft padded one with nice stretching rubber 'holders') and a Coleman Swivel Cup/Beer holder and a spotlight that connects to the handle bars and is removable-sure is nice with those simple 3 add-ons. Now I can find my dropped beer at night with the spotlight, finish the beer and then shoot it! Not sure which I like most-the beer holder or the nifty spotlight (The spotlight is on a "S" Arm and can aim left or right). I also suggest bear claw tires.

Where is there a "nice" place to buy a Polaris?
