  • Seawolf Park Report 8/28/2015

I took my fishing lights out of storage. My buddy Happyshaker, his brother and nephews and I headed to seawolf park. We got to the park early to get the right spot to set up all our lights. We caught a ton of rat reds and undersized trout. Lost a lot of trout trying to net them out of the rocks from the bulkhead. Caught all except the big girl(17" to 24") on glow/chart. paddle tail on a tandem rig and the big one on live scrimps. We left when the wind picked up and churned up the water. Funny thing, I've never been potlicked on dry land before but boat potlickers have nothing on the potlickers at seawolf park. I couldn't set my rod down and walk away to the port-a-crap or the truck (which was ten feet away behind me) when a couple people would run on over and fish our lights. Turn your back again and a whole family of Asians move in to fish. I would let them fish a bit and then just casually turn the power off. The look on their faces was priceless.

Lol, he is in the oil filed business mgstei. From what I gather from him it's the guy in the pits taking samples and shooting tube. Don't know where he got the happy from and I've asked him too. Not a real happy guy. And no flatties mgstei, fished the front of the destroyer and around it by the entrance to the park but no luck.

Good catch, young man! Action under the lights has been off the chain. Nice setup, by the way.

Thanks H. Been thinking of replacing them with new LED canisters that aren't as heavy or bulky. I can also add more lights without the increased draw in power like these old school spotlights.

Bring those lights down to the dike and give me a holler. You won't have to worry about culling so hard. Lol

Lol, you bet. I'll give you a shout to see if we can line up our dates and do something. Me living in Houston, sure cuts into my fishing time.

Good time to do some night fishing with lights. It was a Super Moon. Brightest of the year.
My fishing buddy called , but I was too tired from all the overtime.
I probably have the same light fixtures as you. 1000 watt narrow beam spot lights.
                      Good report and nice catching.

Thanks plugger and Root canal, and yes they are par 64 cans w/1000w lamps. They pull way to much wattage and my friends lights(same set-up) fried his generator about half way through the night. Good thing we had a larger one to pick up the slack but they weren't as bright with all six lights.
