  • Surfside Water Clarity

Wondering how far out the clear water is out of Surfside these days for anyone that's made the trek recently. I've been wanting to catch a king since a couple missed hooksets back in June and the water has been too nasty ever since. I don't have a big boat so I'm hoping it's close in since I can't / won't head out too far.

On another note, any reports of Spanish along the beaches? If I can't can a king, I might as well go for their little brothers!

I was out on the jetty last night at the very end. Sandy green at the end, but left before the tide change. We had about 1 foot clarity on the end and it worsened as we walked in. As the story goes, until the sw wind changes it's going to be off.
Whatever it is,good or bad, God knows! Jeremiah 29:11

Moe is dead on. Nailed it. we need the wind to lay and turn south, se, or north.

Fished the near shore hot spots yesterday at dawn out of freeport , water at 10 miles very nice and blue ( great for texas ) . The north/east swell chased us back by 11am, my 22 foot , took a couple over the bow coming in , the water began to get green about 2 miles out, there was a great sand/green line at the jetty about noon, fished the channel for a few hours, there are some monster gafftop and jumping spinner sharks there ( small ) . For refernence the 2 buoy going out , looked pretty good, the last bouy would have been great. Last weekend found king in that area #3 buoy.
