  • Kenny "the snake" Stabler

Just saw Kenny Stabler died in Gulfport Mississippi at the age of 69 from colon cancer. Lot of memories watching him play.

think he played for Houston for a few, but mostly the Oakland Raiders. RIP, "Snake".

That's too bad. One of Oakland's money players, no doubt.

            RIP Mr. Stabler.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Like I said on the OB. A friend of mine Jack Layne, Bobby Layne's cousin, told me that Booby said he liked young Stabler. His only problem was, he never knew which way he had bet on the game!
              RIP Kenny Stabler

I remember his book. There was a part where the Raiders coach made John Matuszac Stabler's room mate, so Kenny could keep an eye on him. They had quite a few drugs and party girls in those days, and at the end of the night the hot tub looked like egg drop soup. LMAO

I once caught a TD pass from him in my neighborhood. One of the Saints players lived in my neighborhood and had a big party for all the neighborhood kids. Spacewalk, slip N slide, jambalaya, lots of Saints players giving autographs and playing football with us in the street. The punter let one loose that I was certain would not come out of orbit in my lifetime. Kenny was holding a beer in his right hand and passing with his left. He was really nice to all of us kids. We all had fun imitating his accent and he thought it was hilarious. I've still got his autograph somewhere. He was #16 with the Saints, and a hero to lots of us kids because he led the Saints to their second non-losing season in history in 1983. For us an 8-8 season was just short of the Super Bowl. Most of our parents wished we still had Archie, but us kids were glad we had the Snake. My first uniform # was 12 thanks to his number with the Raiders. I still have that jersey. Strange he passed just a few miles from where I now sit. I still remember exactly how I felt when I caught that pass. I was sure I was going to grow up and play for the New Orleans Saints. That didn't happen, but I'll always be able to tell people that I caught a TD pass from the Snake. Thanks for the good memories Kenny. May you rest in peace.
