  • Lower galveston bay report

Depsite it being the 4th, I still woke up at 4am thinking about fishing.Made it to the sling around 515 thinking of where all the hoilday and internet report readers would be at. Pretty much marked out east bay and houston ship channel reefs. I made it out to a flat at dark thirty and found no topwater bite.switch to a rat tail jig on 1/4oz and picked up two 16incher right away. They still are low and slow despite the cleaner water i found. Worked the birds to finish my limit and cr bout thirty. I found it funny that being a holiday weekend how many people pass by a flock of big terns. One flock I fished had 14 big gulls and fish breaking water. Guess they just thought it was white caps from the west wind.

Great Job, I have not seen the birds working in my area except for following boats. in a long time.

I came across a flock of working birds Friday and I was the only one fishing them, that was my first time doing it. Felt kinda silly till we started getting blowups. Talk about fast and furious. I'll never run past a flock of working birds again

I worked some birds this past weekend near Alligator point and couldn't get past a layer of gaftop. Was hoping at least one could get past 6 pounds for the star but Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Still fun game of tug of war with snot sharks.
