Happy Birthday General Lee!!!!!

We forget sometimes that today was once a Holiday as it is Robert E. Lee's birthday. First the holiday was known a Lee's birthday then later it was know as Confederate Heros' Day but it has been forgotten by most.

I for one have not forgotten, so this evening as I do every year, I'll raise a glass of JD in salute to General Lee and all the Heros of the Confederacy!

Good man !! General Jackson deserves to be right up there as well- both among the greatest personal individuals and military minds the country has ever produced. But because they ended up being on the politically incorrect side, don't get the recognition they deserve. I named my son JACKSON, I wanted JACKSON LEE BOWMAN but I couldn't talk my wife out of another middle name. I've thought of giving my staff a paid holiday on the date just to make a statement of being an unreconstructed Rebel.. might do it yet . Note my signature- he was my great grandfather.

I might have to add it back in my signature..... Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Stonewall was more than just a Great Man and War Hero, he is an Icon to the way people wanted their sons to grow up and be like. I know times have changed some up there, but there are still a lot of good ole boys that will give the rebel yell if needed. My family and their beliefs haven't changed nor has those of the the original familys of the Valley, it is just the influx of yankees and yankee thinking that is running it down just like it is in a lot of places these days.
