Be careful for floating logs, trees etc. I work downtown and see a lot of big trees floating down Buffalo Bayou. Just a matter of time before it hits the bay system.....

I remember back in the 80s fishing at base of South Jetty by Apfel Park, a huge oak tree was floating out about 100 yards from the base of the jetty sort of in the ship channel and two guys swam to it and climbed onto it. It was heading towards the Gulf and moving pretty good. I yelled at those guys to swim back but I don't think they understood English. When I left about an hour later, the tree was in the middle of the ship channel, about halfway down the jetty and headed south and they were still on it, paddling with their hands/arms. I guess they were eventually picked up by a boat or they are still somewhere in the Gulf!!
