Why be against CCA or any organization that supports and lobbies for fishing and fisherman, just because you don't agree with EVERY decision they make, or every issue they support or don't support? They are not the enemy."GET OFF MY REEF!"

Sure some folks win some prizes but the CCA takes in far more money than it puts out. It is just a ploy to get money for them and most of the prizes are donated by sponsors that get tax breaks and kickbacks. I'm not knocking anyone that wants to enter the tournament, I wish them good luck, but I'll not support them.Originally posted by JT View PostWay to prove a point! You really need to take a look at the amount of money they take in each year and the amount that goes to "Support Fishing". Sure they lobby but a lot of times that lobbying is along a liberal agenda and really doesn't take us fishemenr into account in the least. Do a little research on them the data is out there and it really isn't pretty. If they are our friend we don't need an enemy.Originally posted by kenny View PostWhy be against CCA or any organization that supports and lobbies for fishing and fisherman, just because you don't agree with EVERY decision they make, or every issue they support or don't support? If I'm going to fish a tournament that benefits a good cause, I'll fish the FWE tournaments. I know then the money I have put out really goes to a good cause and not in someone's pocket.Pro Staff - Bounty Hunter Turbo Buzz, Creme Lures, New Pro Products, & K9 Fishing Fluorocarbon

I also got a really cheap Yeti when I became a Life Member a year ago. And 3 really discounted AR 15's this year when I signed up my 2 sons as life members; and they don't even fish except for the lake and stock tanks at the ranch where they know they'll catch fish.
That's like saying you won't ever buy a $1 lotto ticket when the jackpot reaches 200 mm because the State makes a lot of money off the sales. Who cares? I would sure feel like a fool if I caught a tagged one and wasn't entered.

I see and take your point, Bounty hunter. It's always more about money than the greater good. However cca's liberal agenda idea is laughable. I saw first hand the hierarchy last Friday note and didn't look like any Chuck Schumer's were present. Lol

Is it just me or does the criticism for the CCA always seem kinda cryptic between posts? I would like to know what the controversial issues are? I have tried to research but nothing jumps out at me. Can someone point me in the right direction?

CCA takes in far more money than they put out? Ok but what organization of this type doesn't? I mean in the end its still a business and we are capitalists are we not? Just my opinion Im not trying to offend anyone, just am curious as to what the main issues are.

It's like Ducks Unlimited or Delta Waterfowl with me...I definitely don't agree with everything those two organizations do, but they get money from me every year because of what they stand for and who they represent."If our father had his say, nobody who did not know how to catch a fish would be allowed to disgrace a fish by catching him." I enter every year, the thought of being the guy with the tagged fish and not entered is too much to think about. I have a friend who's dad and two years later his son both won the gaff-top division. He had the boat and his kid got $50K for school. But as S-troop said "I'm Entered so I won't win"!
