    I'm not happy. Just got my 2015 Tax appraisal from GCAD and it raised my house value by $50,000 exactly. Really? Not $42,762, but EXACTLY $50,000!!! Bullchip.

    Who else got big increases that you believe are unwarranted from GCAD? If you don't mind, post up your general increase of value they pulled outta their azz.

    I'm trying to see if there is more than the 'typical' pattern by these leeches/scumbags.

    Yes, I will protest myself. O'Connor & Associates are worthless IMO.

    Haven't received the one for my house but my lot next door in Bayou Vista went up 76%! I am hearing they are hitting the land values hard as they have been the same value for the past few years. Should get the house information this week and will be protesting both properties.

      Pictures of the inside and outside work best for the protest and showing "Comps" of houses sold as well as how long listed on the market, plus with the 'new insurance rates' by FEMA(NFIP) and TWIA and mine being originally built in 1965 discourages new purchasers since they lose my grandfathered status as 'pre-firm' so the new buyer's insurance rates will be farging high as Lurefisher on a Saturday night.

        Definitely protest it. Just because they think it's value has gone up doesn't actually mean the value has gone up... they just want a raise.

          Received our appraisal yesterday....opened it up this morning and was the human alarm for the house. Freaking $62,000 increase. Will be protesting. Also our primary residence in Friendswood increased 54,000. Both are with Galveston County Appraisal District.

          Hopefully our new Lt. Governor will present new legislation that caps the increase of these aggressive money grabbing appraisal districts.

            They increased the value of our place in Sea Isle by $54,000. Wish I could sell it for what the think it is worth!

                  OK, so I called and said "Wait a minute, the market value you raised much more than 10% and the nice lady said "yes, that's just the market value, not the tax-we can only raise tax by 10% and we will each year until we meet market value." so my taxes only went up a few hundred dollars BUT will continue to do so every year til the taxes 'catch up' effectively. My market value went up 26% plus this year according to the CAD.

                  I aint upgraded my house and it looks like 1965 inside-paneling, robin egg blue oven and stove top, etc., so all the new houses and folks that upgraded old houses cost me higher taxes UNLESS I fight which I will. Pics will work for me-you folks that fixed up your kitchens and other things will have a hard time with the CAD. They also show me as 1.5 baths-legally, it's one bath since when I sell, I can no longer claim downstairs as a room and bath due to non-insurable (well, that may not be exactly correctly worded but I believe no mortgage company would count the downstairs as a bedroom and bath because NFIP would not insure it to a new owner/buyer thanks to Biggert Waters Act)-Biggert and Waters can take a trip to Somalia-I'll even pay for them to go there-of course via a one-way ticket, the farking beotches-they can wear a USA Flag shirt which I'll even buy for them-maybe Yemen would work also as a good place for them to have a 'visit'.

                    $32,000 market value increase this year for me. Exactly 10% raise in taxes for 2015. Sounds like they are doing the same to me as well.

                    I can't complain, however, as my house was appraised last year at $69k over the previous market value by GCTA and still about $30k over the new proposed market value.

                      Wife just texted me that our appraisal came this week. Market value was up over $100K from last year! There's no freakin way! I'll be protesting...which just means they'll give me a little break this year and get it back next.

                        Go to O"Conner and Associates and they will fight your taxes for you. You pay them half the money you save. They do a very good job. A little paper work involved but you will save a lot. Good luck!

                          I got whacked by Brazoria County. My back porch roof caved in and I had to remove it, but my house amazingly is worth 35k more than it was 9 years ago. ??????

                            Take pics and fight your taxes. Little trouble but it will pay big dividends. I have done it…..

                              $31,900.00 increase for us also in Galveston County. We just moved to Galveston in Nov. We paid $40k more than the new appraisal though so not sure if I should fight it or not.
