There is no finer table fare in da Bayou. Biggest I've caught in Texas was 16 inches in Bastrop Bay. Biggest ever? When I was a kid, we didn't measure fish, we just guessed at the weight. Dad says that 3 lb croaker were an expectation, but to get bigger ones, you had to go out to the rigs.

Fishing Rollover in the '50's with my family, we caught two at a time and filled a truck load of ice chests. They are very good eating Sandy.

My kids love catching them in the summer but we have to work at it to get enough for a fry. I'll agree, great eating.
