  • Captain Chris Phillips Memorial

I got an email yesterday regarding the public memorial for Chris. Saturday January the 23rd, Fishing Tackle Unlimited. From 5:30 to 7:30.

I want to thank Joe and Danny Meyer for opening the doors to the public and hosting this event for a Great friend. Chirs had worked for them for the ast several years, and known them for many. This is about celebrating Chris' lifetime of giving to the fishing community, and there will be way too many great people there, from inside the industry and out. Below is the email I reciedved with all the details.

A informal memorial service for Chris will be held Saturday, January 23rd at Fishing Tackle Unlimited (12800 Gulf Frwy @ Fuqua). Guests are welcome to arrive beginning at 5:30 pm with the service to start promptly at 6:30 pm.

After the service, everyone is invited to continue the celebration at the Fox & Hound pub across the parking lot.

When I was at Lakeside Country Club, we only hosted 1 outside event every year, it was a charity event for Cancare, they are a great group of folks, I'll send a donation in his name.

You should come by Neil, if you can. I don't know the organization, but if it's for cancer, I will support. I got cut last year for a melanoma, so I guess that I'm a survivor, along with several more of Chris' good friends that have done battle.

The group puts cancer survivors with new cancer patients, so, if you have one type of cancer, they can counsel you on what to expect in your treatment etc.

I didn't hear that Chris had passed. He fought the good fight.

He was a great Fly Fisherman and an even better person. I always enjoyed talking and fishing with him.

Text while driving if you want to meet him.
