  • Might be gettin' a New Ride

Going to take a look at a new to me Bass Boat tomorrow. She's not much bigger then my current boat but she is a Champion which are noted to be the best riding and handling in rough water. If I'm going to start fishing some of the lake tournaments I need a little more than my Cajun bayou blaster. The specs on the new boat is a 92 Champion 17'6" with a 92 135hp Mercury. Hope she lives up to the pictures in person!!

Reminds me of the days I was bass fishing in the 90's. Had a 17' 10" Astro with the same 135HP Mercury. Engine was solid and with normal maintenance never had an issue. Fished club tournaments at Rayburn, T-Bend, ect. Don't believe the Astro had the ride the Champion does, but I liked the 17" 10" length and she handled the big lakes just fine. I would of loved that Champion, several dudes in the club ran Champions and they sure boasted about them. Good luck!

Dang, don't kick yourself too hard. There will be another, maybe even a better deal.

Too sparkly of a paint job anyway. IMO stay away from old Mercs. The new ones are good. I had a pair of '92 75's. Nothing but trouble.

If it is the Red and Gold one in La Porte I've seen it. $8500 is way too much for it, I'd go $6500 maybe. If it is another one shoot me a link if you would.
